Acting Chief Executive Officer
Andreas Clark was appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer in July 2014.
Andreas has previously held a number of senior management roles with Wine Australia since 2006 and was Acting Chief Executive Officer from September 2013 to June 2014. Prior to joining the wine industry he served as a diplomat with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra and Brunei and has also worked as a lawyer in private practice and in-house with an ASX listed company.
He holds a Master of Laws from the Australian National University and Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from Flinders University and is admitted to practice in South Australia. He has also completed a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia.
Chief Financial Officer
As AGWA’s Chief Financial Officer, Steven has responsibility for all corporate services, financial, information technology and human resource functions as well as performing company secretarial duties. Prior to joining AGWA, Steven worked in senior finance and operational roles for a diverse range of corporate entities, ranging from the Port Adelaide Football Club, Jeffries Group and over 10 years in a number of different roles with Pernod Ricard.
Steven is a Masters qualified FCPA as well as being a graduate member of the Institute of Company Directors.
General Manager, Market Development
General Manager, Regulatory Services
After graduating from South Australia’s Roseworthy Agricultural College with an oenology degree in 1984, Steve worked for several of Australia’s largest wine companies. In particular he worked for the organisation that evolved into Beringer Blass in various roles, including Chemist, Quality Manager and Regional Winemaker, from 1986 to 2000. Steve was appointed to the newly created position of Compliance Manager with the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation, now AGWA, in September 2000. Steve’s responsibilities were extended in 2005 to encompass not only matters relating to regulatory compliance, but also AGWA’s contribution to Australia’s market access initiatives.
Steve also holds a degree in pure mathematics and an MBA.
He has participated in many Australian wine sector committees and working groups, and is the current chair of the Technical Advisory Committee for FIVS-ABRIDGE, an authoritative source of regulatory information of interest to the international wine community.
General Manager, Research, Development and Extension
Kate Harvey became AGWA’s General Manager – Research, Development and Extension in July 2014, having been General Manager at the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation (GWRDC) since June 2010.
Kate is responsible for managing research, development and extension. She is also responsibility for the Consumers and Markets program, which invests in research and development in the consumer insights and market access areas.
Before joining GWRDC, one of AGWA’s two predecessor organisations, Kate held senior positions at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. She has also worked in the government and corporate sectors.
Kate holds an Honours degree in politics from the University of Adelaide and a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration from the University of South Australia. She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Manager, Communications and PR
Manager, Wine Sector Intelligence
As Manager, Wine Sector Intelligence with AGWA, Peter Bailey is responsible for managing a team that keeps the Australian wine sector informed. The goal of his team is to support the Australian wine sector’s competitiveness through the collection, presentation and dissemination of global wine sector intelligence.
Peter commenced working with AGWA in 2006 and in that time has been instrumental in the delivery of a wide range of information and analysis to industry that is envied internationally. Peter and his team are committed to servicing the industry’s information needs and respond and adapt quickly to the evolving nature of those needs.
Prior to joining the Corporation, Peter spent over a decade in the commercial side of the Australian energy industry, in roles such as Energy Trader at ETSA and Manager, Commercial Analysis at Origin Energy. This extensive commercial experience has enabled him to bring a fresh approach to provision of information and analysis to the wine industry.
